リヴァプールのGKロリス・カリウスにとって、最悪の1日となったことは間違いないだろう。51分に味方選手にむけてボールを投げたものの、このボールがFWカリム・ベンゼマ（レアル・マドリード）に当たり、失点に直結。さらに83分にはガレス・ベイルが放ったシュートを前方に弾ききれず、計2失点に関与する形となった。自責の念にかられた同選手は自身のTwitterを通じ、ファンにむけて謝罪の言葉を述べている。
同選手のTwitterアカウントのコメント欄には「これ以上自分を責めないで」、「君は我々の希望だ」、「これまでの君の仕事ぶりは素晴らしかった」など、励ましの言葉が数多く寄せられている。一部のサッカーフリークより脅迫文を送りつけられたことが複数のメディアで伝えられているが、心身の回復を願いたいところだ。
