Kinect 用の目隠し ″ Pritect ″ センサーカバー
......。だけではなんなので、販売元 Catalyst Component なる企業の発表文 (続きに掲載) から適当に引けば：Kinect は映像や音声データだけでなく、先進的なバイオメトリクスや3D顔認識で個人をも識別する。このような技術が家庭のリビングルームに招かれたことはかつてない。またほとんどの場合はインターネットに接続している。まるで「誰が覗いているか分からない巨大な窓のようなもの」。
たしかにノートPCについているウェブカメラやマイクは、物理的に塞いでおかないかぎり、マルウェアが盗聴・盗撮やネット送信・公開する可能性は否定できません。マイクロソフトが管理しているXbox 360プラットフォームでは露骨なスパイウェアが通される可能性はかなり低いとして、マイクロソフトは今ここにあるスマートテレビとしてXbox 360向けの映像や放送サービスを充実させており、 Kinect を使ったインタラクティブ広告の試みも発表しています。高度なセンサーを用いた NUI が一般化したときには、「何人が見ていた」だけでなく体型と広告の関連づけや、「特定場面で乗りだした」「テレビと会話していた」「番組開始前から正座待機していた」などを認識する視聴率も登場しないともかぎりません。
追記：カメラは隠してマイクは使える点がポイント、らしい (Kinectのマイクアレイは真下に4つ付いているので塞ぐ方が難しい)。
Kinectを本体から抜くならタダですが、専用コネクタでXbox 360の背面についている点が面倒なところ。まあ現状のXbox 360ではそもそも目隠しをする理由があまりなく、カメラがあるとどうしても隠したい人にうっかり売れれば儲け、程度の製品ではないかと思われます。
