任天堂 岩田聡さん、ありがとう。「Golden Joystick Awards2015」で生涯功労賞を受賞
イギリスの歴史あるビデオゲーム授賞式「Golden Joystick Awards 2015」にて、任天堂の故・岩田聡元社長が生涯功労賞（ lifetime achievement award）を贈られました。任天堂のゲームとしては『スプラトゥーン』がファミリー賞を受賞したほか、国産ゲームでは『Bloodborne』がベストオリジナルゲームを含む2冠を、『Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain』が批評家賞（Critics' choice）を受賞しています。
今年のGOTY(Game of the year＝その年のベストゲーム)に輝いたのは『The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt』。発売から1ヶ月半で売上600万本を突破してシリーズ累計を超えた背景には高い技術力もありますが、プレイヤーに徹底して寄り添った姿勢もあり。著作権保護DRMをフリーにした上に、ネットゲームで大きな収入源となっているDLCを無料化したことも勢いを後押しています。
『The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt』はストーリーやビジュアル部門、最高の瞬間（Best gaming moment）も合わせて4部門を受賞。売上本数が初代『スーパーマリオブラザーズ』（4024万本）を超えた（8月時点で5400万本）『Grand Theft Auto V』もオンラインモードの『Grand Theft Auto Online』を含めて3部門を受賞しており、市場での実績とユーザーの評価が一致している格好です。
一方で、国内勢は海外ゲームじみた難度の『Bloodborne』が海外でも2冠の高評価、『スプラトゥーン』は日本プレイヤーが恐れられながらもファミリー＆ベスト任天堂ゲームに、『Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain』がジャーナリスト選出による批評家賞を贈られています。
海外での国内ゲームの苦戦が受賞作の少なさにも反映されるなかで(今年に始まったことではありませんが)故・岩田聡氏に生涯功労賞が捧げられたことが心を温かくします。来年以降の国内ゲームの健闘を祈りつつ、以下にノミネート作および受賞作のラインナップのご紹介です(下線アリが受賞作)。
