■9位　デイビッド・バティー：幼児用の三輪車 (1990年代)



If Banega's injury made you wince, then Batty's will make you snicker. The former Leeds United, Blackburn and Newcastle hardman was recovering from an ankle ligament injury at home when his daughter, all of two years old at the time, ran over the midfielder's injured ankle when she was riding on her tricycle.

　当時２歳だった愛娘が乗った三輪車に、足首を思い切り引かれたとか……笑ってはいけないけど笑える（笑）。

■6位　デイビッド・ベッカム：スパイク（2003年）



In what has become one of the most high-profile off-the-pitch injuries in the game, a furious Sir Alex Ferguson unleashed hell in his Manchester United dressing room following their FA Cup exit to Arsenal. The fiery Scot kicked a boot which caught Becks just above his left eye. Maybe Sir Alex should have been the one out on the field taking free kicks that day.

　まあ、これは有名ですね。2003年2月15日、FA杯でアーセナルに敗れたことに怒り狂ったファーガソン監督が控え室でスパイクを蹴っ飛ばしたところ、ベッカム様の左まゆを直撃。

　ベッカム様はあてつけのように、前髪をわざわざヘアバンドでかき上げ、当時UEFA CLで対戦したレアル・マドリー戦で披露していた記憶があります。結局、この事件が決定打となった形で、2003-04シーズンよりベッカムはレアル・マドリー移籍。



　関係ないけど、ベッカムをファンタジスタっていう意見が当時結構ありましたが、どう見ても勤勉な労働者というかクロス職人で、見た目の華やかさとは裏腹に本質的には地味なプレースタイルだと思うんですよね。もちろんプレースキックはすごいけど。で、だからこそ「職人」として36歳の今でもプレーし続けているんだと思いますし。関係無いので次へ。

■3位　リオ・ファーディナンド：座ってただけ



Ferdinand, while still at Leeds United in 2001, was lounging at home watching TV with his feet up on the coffee table. When the defender eventually moved his legs a few hours later, he pulled a tendon in his knee. At least he wasn't reaching for the remote.

The Servette midfielder had set up an 87th minute goal for Jean Beausejour in a Swiss league game when he ran to celebrate with the supporters by climbing onto the fence. Unbeknownst to him, his wedding ring got caught in the metal wiring and when he pulled away, his finger was ripped off. To add ultimate insult to agonising injury, he was booked by the referee for "time wasting".


　もうね、これは訳すのもシンドイです。ひたすら乙としか言いようがない。主審には遅延行為で警告食らったとかだし。

　ちなみに貫禄の1位は、ディエゴ・アルマンド・マラドーナでした。

■1位　ディエゴ・マラドーナ：犬に噛まれた



Just three months from the start of the 2010 World Cup, Maradona had to pay another visit to the doctors when he got too cute with his pet dog, a Chinese Shar Pei, who bit him in the face. The Argentine legend needed 10 stitches on his lip, but that wasn't enough to stop him from delivering a few classic one-liners during the World Cup.


　ワールドカップ2010の開幕３ヶ月前に、飼い犬に顔を噛まれて10針縫ったとか。その頃といえば、岡田武史監督率いる我が日本代表がかなりアレなことになっていて、全く記憶にありませんが、マラドーナ様はさすがに安定したネタ供給力を発揮しておりますな……。

　まあ、特に小さな犬は成長期に歯がむずむずして噛み付くそうなので、エゾシカ肉でも与えてやればいいのでは。
