杉田祐一は惜しくも初の全米3回戦進出ならず[全米オープン]

「全米オープン」（8月28日〜9月10日／アメリカ・ニューヨーク／ハードコート）の男子シングルス2回戦で、杉田祐一（三菱電機）がレオナルド・メイヤー（アルゼンチン）と対戦。

杉田は第1セットを先取するも、第2セットから7ゲーム連取されるなどメイヤーに押され、7-6(3)、4-6、3-6、4-6で逆転負けを喫し、初の「全米オープン」3回戦進出とはならなかった。

勝利したメイヤーは、ラファエル・ナダル（スペイン）とダニエル太郎（エイブル）の試合の勝者と3回戦で対戦する。
